Search Engine Methodology: Consider a Search Engine Consultant

Search engine optimisation is one of the most powerful methods of getting your name and your business out to the world, but what is the best way to do that?

No one’s going to argue with the fact that putting your link at the top of a list of natural search results is a great way to get noticed, but no one really agrees on how to get it there. There are plenty of techniques, from directories to glossaries to article archives, but when it comes right down to it, you need a strategy, and a search engine consultant is the best person to help you find one.

Search engines are now more sophisticated than ever, and they use a wide range of techniques to figure out which sites are the most relevant to what the searcher is looking for. Everything from keyword density to the reputation of the site is used, and keeping track of these factors can be tough. When you are first putting your business online, especially if you’ve never had to maintain a web presence before, it can be difficult to keep track of everything you need to do.

A search engine consultant can give you the information you need in order to put your site at the top of its rankings.

Their business is to know what makes a site attractive or unattractive to the search engines, and to figure out how to put your site squarely in the former category.

A search engine consultant can help you network; someone who is versed in search engine optimisation will often be able to offer you experience with your specific industry, whether that’s health and beauty or pet supplies.

A search engine consultant can tell you where to put your information, what you can do to improve your keyword usage and how to make sense of things like keyword density and topicality.

When you are looking for a search engine consultant, remember that recommendation by word of mouth is usually the best way to go about it. Make sure that the professional you choose has a lot of experience working with different sites and read any testimonials or reviews of his or her work that you can find. Finding someone who has been in this field for a certain span of time is also beneficial. Some search engine optimisation specialists have worked with Yahoo or Google themselves, or have accreditation from those companies. Remember that a search engine optimisation consultant will be affecting the way you present your business to the world, so make sure he is someone you are happy to work with.

A search engine consultant can help your site get the traffic it needs, so take advantage of their experience and knowledge to improve your operation!

Prevent Identity Theft On The Internet

January 22, 2010 by Webwarrior

Taking the right steps immediately after you discover that you have been the victim of an identity theft is extremely important. The following are some of the steps which you should immediately consider making.

1. Place a fraud alert.
Placing a fraud alert is undoubtedly the first thing you should do. You expose yourself to even greater danger by not doing this. This is the only way by which you can limit the actions of the thief. You will need to choose from one of two different types of fraud alert. An extended or initial fraud alert. An extended fraud alert is usually placed after you have been victim of a crime. With this type of fraud alert, transactions will only be allowed on your account after you have been personally identified. The other type of fraud alert is that of the initial fraud alert. You can choose to do this type of alert if you suspect that you might soon be a victim of identity theft. For example, in instance where your wallet gets stolen or missing, an initial fraud alert can be placed to prevent anyone else from using your credit details.

2.Close the accounts that you know, or believe, have been tampered with or opened fraudulently.
Since you obviously do not have your credit cards anymore, you will need to consider opening a new account. You will also need to acquire fresh credit and ATM cards. You should have your request placed in writing. Although you still will have to call, writing them letters will help you keep a record of the details surrounding your requests. Most credit institutions will request for this anyway.

3. File a report with the correct agencies
Cases of identity theft are taken very seriously. You should not keep the incidence to yourself. Once you are done protecting yourself, make sure that you file a report of the incidence with the affected agency. It is advised that people who have been a victim of an identity theft, file a report with the local police force and one with the federal trade commission.

In conclusion it is important that you become more careful. In most cases of Identity theft, people lose their information not because they were attacked by a world class thief, but because they simply weren’t careful enough.

Should you have a sitemap on your website?

December 10, 2009 by Webwarrior

For many people, a sitemap is commonly thought to be unnecessary in the midst of making an internet site, and that’s really true if the only reason you make one is for the sake of it. Using a well designed sitemap on your site is basically terribly useful and in my opinion, vital. Especially re search engine optimisation. There are a few reasons why building a sitemap for your site can be a massive advantage.

Navigation

As the name implies, the sitemap truly does act as a map of your website, if you build it that way. This can be useful to visitors to your site if they are looking for something particularly that might not be obviously available on the index page, or on the page which they entered your site on. Also, if your website is very huge, many people find having an outline of how it all fits together will help them understand how to find all the things they are on the lookout for on your internet site.

Overall picture of the site’s ‘theme’.

As quickly as your visitors to your internet site study the sitemap, they’ll get the final idea of what your website is all about terribly quickly . This can save time, for your visitor, as they don’t need to troll through plenty of pages to get an understanding of what it is you are trying to achieve.

SEO

What happens when you build a good sitemap, is that you are in fact making a single page on your website which has a link to every other page on your website. This makes it much easier for the search engines to look into your site and it helps to have all of the pages on your site indexed ( listed ) by the search engines. It’s important for SEO, that the sitemap is able to be navigated to from your homepage, so be sure there’s a link to the sitemap on the homepage of your website.

A well organized site.

By creating a sitemap, it allows you to have a really good top level view of how your website is put together. That means that when you add new pages to your internet site, it can be reasonably easy to see the best place to put it, just by having a look at your sitemap.

Building a sitemap for particularly large internet sites is very important for all of the reasons I’ve mentioned here. It is surely worth making the effort.

You Have decided to sell your Website.. Now what?

October 2, 2009 by Webwarrior

You have decided that you want to sell your website, and that’s nice. If you are prepared to sell your website and you figure it would be lucrative to sell, then that’s a solid progression in the correct course already. Now that you have passed that difficulty however, you have to figure out if your website is attractive to potential suitors. To do that, you should find a a significant quantity of statistics, manage yourself and be capable to put into place any required changes to strengthen your deal.

What are the key factors to anyone that is thinking about purchasing an online store? Obviously they need to learn that your online store is growing and experiencing gains. This is simply realized by presenting your years of sales, ad money and other possible profit. It’s also significant to be able to show advances in the site’s revenues.

If you’ve enjoyed large profits for years on end but are dropping down from a shortcoming of some kind, that can obviously lower your site’s value. It will be smart to take the necessary actions to improve that development, or show to a investor why that has transpired and how they can take care of it. As an example, you haven’t had the resources to actually put into place a fantastic marketing campaign as of late, and the decreases is a certain result of that.

Adding to the earnings numbers, you also will be required to demonstrate other statistics. Worthwhile information to reveal consist of how many unique visitors you have, how many repeat visitors you have, how many total pages are visited when any person checks out the e-commerce site and where the browsers comes from taking into consideratin Google and Yahoo, additional links or favorite links. All of these facts should make you more prepared and will also emphasize the strong points and the potential that your website has.

Adding to that, you will want to be able to demonstrate your website’s overall position. This can be achieved through statistics including your page rank from Google and by demonstrating how many inbound links you have leading to your website. This can also be achieved by showing where your e-commerce site comes up in SERPS for key phrases important to your area of online store. Adding to that, an online store that has been up a greater period of time will be more legitimate not only to consumers but also to the major search engines themselves.

Just because you are prepared to sell your website doesn’t mean that it will be directly attractive to potential suitors. Conduct the important research and teach yourself to see where the website lies and to be capable to show where it is heading. Even basic actions, including the steps here could help you sell your website quickly while obtaining a much greater return.

Choosing Web Hosting That Make Sense!

August 26, 2009 by Webwarrior

Shared hosting isn’t like it used to be. When I first got started in this business, maybe a decade ago now, I was broke. I paid my hosting fees on a monthly basis, as some still do today, but I dreaded the end of the month when the next payment was due. I really was unsure about my direction in life. I often had to rethink my whole career because I figured if I couldn’t scrape together enough money to pay my hosting fees each month, was I just fooling myself?

It’s not hosting cost a ridiculous amount of money. They cost me just shy of $15 per month. Laugh if you like, I still had troubles managing my money properly to get it paid. Since I was late, my site would be down until I was able to finally pay the bill.

On top of that, when I tried to expand my business and create new websites I usually had to tuck them in a folder off the root if my main site and redirect the domain name to that folder. That practice, I found out the hard way, was against the rules of most web hosting providers that I dealt with. I was running out of hosting companies, so I thought, but mind you I was only dealing with local companies. It never even occurred to me to venture outside the country (or even city) to lay down new virtual land. Sounds bizarre these days of course.

What’s worse, doing anything to your site required submitting a ticket. You know, adding support for dynamic programming languages, changing or adding to the root document, changing permissions, all took days to accomplish.

These days however, things are drastically different. It’s not uncommon to have your sites hosted in different continents. We are being billed 1, 2, 3 or more years in advance. People are also hosting all of their websites under just one account and their costs aren’t increasing at all.

I have more than one hosting account with more than one company. GoDaddy is one of the companies whom I host with. I pay even less for an unlimited hosting package than I did for the one-site hosting package back in the day. I have almost as much control as I want with this hosting package, but this came with a bit of a learning curve for me but now I have the process down to a science. I laid out some simple steps for one of the common tasks which is adding additional web site to your GoDaddy hosting package. Read this article to see exactly how, the process is broken down into simple chunks: Multiple Sites Godaddy
